Curtis Franklin Richards

Curtis Franklin Richards, age 95, of Plano, Texas passed away January 27, 2009. He was born April 8, 1913 in Paris, Texas to William C. and Tillie (Gregor) Richards. On December 9, 1934 he married Jewell Rorie. Curtis was a master golf craftsman. He was a member of the Swinging Seniors Bowling Team and the Scottish Rite Masons. He was a sales representative for Flint Ink in nine states before retiring at the age of 72. Curtis was an avid golf player until he broke his hip. For 35 years, the Curtis Richards Wide Open Golf Tournament was held in his honor. He was a member of Meadows Baptist Church of Plano. He is survived by his son, Gary W. Richards and wife, Linda of White Lake, Michigan; two grandsons, Kirk Richards and his wife, Kerri of Henderson, Nevada, Kevin Richards of Shawnee Missions, Kansas; sister, Lela Mae Shugart of Paris, Texas; nieces, Frances Eagle and husband, Vic of Garland, Texas, Susan Middleton and husband, Scott of Corsicana, Texas; nephews, Doug Richards and wife, Arless of Minnesota, Charles Richards and wife, Nancy of Paris, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Tillie Richards and his wife, Jewell D. Richards. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2009, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Dr. Scott Fenton officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
