IN LOVING MEMORY

Corey Lamont Grice, Sr.

May 10 1973 - Jun 13 2013

Corey Lamont Grice Sr. was born on May 10, 1973, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas; the youngest child born to the union of the late DeArthur Grice Sr. and Dora Grice.

Corey confessed Christ at an early age and joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Moscow, AR. As a young boy, he set himself apart from most youth and was very outspoken at church programs and events. He also served as a youth usher and sang in the choir.

Corey started his education at Linwood Elementary in Moscow, AR. He later moved to Pine Bluff Jr. High, Jack Robey Jr. High, and he graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1991. He played football and ran track while in high school. He continued his higher education at Alcorn State University and later transferred to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where he graduated with honors in Computer Science in 1996.

After college, he moved to Aurora, Illinois to work for AT& T as a Wireline Tester. That is where he met the love of life, his ride or die chic, Andrea Binion and they united in marriage on May 22, 1999. To their union, the Lord blessed them with three children; Lilli, Halli, and Corey Jr.

While living in Illinois, he joined Alpha Baptist Church where he served as an usher. In 1999, the two transferred to the Dallas area for Corey’s new job with MCI WorldCom.   In 2000, they joined Friendship Baptist Church, where he served as an usher, on the Scholarship Ministry, leader of the Men’s Brotherhood Ministry and in the Outreach/Evangelism Ministry. Corey accepted his call to ministry in 2005, where he was ordained as an Elder under the leadership of Pastors Hugene and June Purdy, and Bishop Reginald Jordan. He was a member of Trinity Resources Coaching Ministry, where he served as an armor bearer and led church operations. He joined New Life Community Church in 2007, where he served as a Minister in various capacities until his death. He taught Sunday School, Youth Classes, New Members Orientation and Bible Study. Additionally, Corey worked with the Health and the Music Ministries and Ushers. He led the Men’s Brotherhood Ministry, and was the current leader for the Outreach Ministry.

On Thursday, June 13, 2013, Corey answered the roll call of that welcome voice saying, “Well, Done thy good and faithful servant – enter into the joys of the Lord”.   He was preceded in death by his father, DeArthur Grice Sr. and sister, Angela Grice Pieters. He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Andrea Grice; his three children: Lilli, Halli, and Corey Jr.; his mother, Mrs. Dora Grice, his brother DeArthur (Michelle) Grice Jr.; sister, Pamela (Edgar) Wade; mother-in-law, Inez (Willie) Owens, mother-in-law, Johnnie Bowman; grandfather, Sam Binion Sr.; brother-in-law, Denville Pieters; sisters-in-law, Kim(Bernard) Johnson, Andrell (Lonnie) Cooper, Adrian Bowman, Alexis Bowman, and Monica Washington; three godsons, Brandon McClain Jr., Kingston, and Major Watson; nephews: Marquis, Cheston, Jelani, Jordan, Devin, Koby, Kamari, Drew, and Evan; nieces: DeAna and DeAndra; two special little princesses: Jada Mitchem and Payton Patterson; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Corey was a kind, loving, compassionate husband, father, son, brother, uncle, godfather, and friend. He was always ready, willing, and eager to do whatever was necessary to make life easier for his family and friends. He served his family, community, and church. He never complained, always a peacemaker and a great example of how to live. His faith in God was demonstrated on a daily basis. Corey loved the Lord.
