Cordis P. (C.P.) Snider

Cordis P. (C.P.) Snider, age 84, passed away August 11, 2014 in Allen, Texas, where he and his wife, Patsy, have lived for the past 51 years. He was born on June 29, 1930 in Dallas, Texas to Hershal Theo and Faye Addington Snider. He graduated from McKinney High School in 1948 and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1950 and in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1950 to 1955. On August 5, 1961, C.P. married Patsy Turner in Fairview, Texas. He began working with the Dallas Fire Department in 1953 and retired in 1988 while working at Station 21 (Love Field). C.P. was a Christian and a long-time member of Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church (formerly First Baptist Church of Fairview) where he previously served as a deacon and in numerous other volunteer capacities. He was a kind, quiet man with a dry sense of humor who loved doing things for his family, neighbors, church and community.

C.P. was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Hershal T. Snider, Jr.; his sister-in-law, Lana Turner Woodrick; his brother-in-law, Elton (Bud) Turner and brother-in –law, Charles Allen.

He is survived by his loving, caring and devoted wife of 53 years, Patsy Snider of Allen, Texas; his daughter, Sylvia (Susie) Anderhub and husband David of Waxahachie, Texas; son, Jeff Snider of Fairlie, Texas; sister, Betty Hughes and husband Jim of Prosper, Texas; brother, Don Hodges and his wife Phyllis of Anderson, South Carolina; brother, Jimmy Hodges and wife Nancy of Garland, Texas; aunt, Oleta Arnsen of California; sister-in-law, Myrna Allen of Marshall, Texas, sister-in-law, Bette Turner of Benton, Louisiana; and brother-in-law, George Turner and wife Wilma of Wylie, Texas.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas, with Rev. Dennis George and Jake Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway N., in Allen, Texas.
