Connie Sue Hill Gray, 75, passed away on October 12, 2009, at her home in New Hope, Texas where she had lived for more than 47 years. Connie was born on November 4, 1933 to Hattie and Sam Hill in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She attended Henderson State Teachers College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and majored in home economics. While she was working as an operator for Southwestern Bell, she met her husband, Roy Gray. Connie and Roy were married on July 24th, 1955 and celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2005. Connie took great pride in raising vegetables in her garden and loved spending time working on the farm with Roy. She also really enjoyed sharing in the lives of her two cherished granddaughters, Alexandria and Lauren Herbst. Connie was preceded in death by her husband who passed away in 2006, her parents, brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Pam Hill, and nephew, Sydney Charles Brown. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Jeff Herbst of New Hope; granddaughters, Alexandria and Lauren Herbst, also of New Hope; sister-in-law Thelma and Sid Brown, of Abbot, Texas, three nephews Sam H. Hill III of Hot Springs, John Brown of Watauga and David Brown, of Abbott, Texas; four nieces, Beverly and Kenny Copeland of Texarkana, Texas, Sammi Wilson of Hot Springs, Traci and Michael Chaver of Bastrop, Texas, and Kim and Lee Parris of Cabot, Arkansas, and great-niece Jennifer Brown; great-nephew Colton Brown; and many wonderful friends. Visitation will be held in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in McKinney, on Wednesday, October 14 at 9 am, directly followed by a funeral service at 10 am. The Reverend Gary Herbst will perform the services. Family and friends are invited to come to her daughter's home, in New Hope, after the service to further visit with the family. Pallbearers are: Troy Lindsey, Gary Owen, David Craft, Terry Sanner, Clint Sanner and Steve Nichols.
