Col. James Basil Bryant, Ret. Air Force, age 90, of Sherman, Texas passed away August 12, 2007. He was born January 18, 1917 in Raleigh, Mississippi to Harrison Monroe Bryant and Ida Ward Bryant. Mr. Bryant was raised in McKinney, Texas and graduated from Texas Tech. University. Col. Bryant proudly served in the United States Air Force and retired after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of WW II and the Korean Conflict. He was a Communications Development Specialist with the United States Air Force, an instructor pilot during WW II, Director of the Department of Defense Satellite Communications Agency, Director in the Rome Air Development Center and Deputy Director for Plans and Operations with the United States Air Force Europe. He is survived by his wife, Jessie Craft Bryant of Sherman, Texas; son James R. Bryant and his wife, Mary G. Bryant of Huntsville, Alabama; daughter, Roxie Ann Bryant of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren, Shannon Alise Bryant of Birmingham, Alabama, James Austin Bryant of Huntsville, Alabama, Travis Gill Bryant of Huntsville, Alabama and John Spencer Bryant of Huntsville, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents and six sisters. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at the Melissa Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m., Monday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Allen, Texas.
