Clinton Lee Wood

May 24 1938 - Aug 19 2014

Clinton Lee Wood was born at St. Luke's Hospital, Denver, CO, May 24, 1938.  He lived in Lakewood, CO until the age of four.  He was the oldest of three children born to Russell "Rusty" A. Wood and Ernestine L. Lane Wood, both preceding him in death.  He has two sisters, Carol Searcy (Charles "Chuck") Las Vegas, NM and Nancy Sprague (David) Boulder, CO. In 1942 the family moved to Holyoke and lived on the Nathan "Nate", Lillie, and Carmen Wood farm.  Clint had a very magical and social personality.  He made friends everywhere he went, but his heart was always in Holyoke and the people he grew-up with.  Once he was introduced to music; there wasn't an instrument he didn’t attempt to play or dance he didn’t try. He was Drum Major and Base Drum player setting a new cadence for the Holyoke High School Marching Band.  His primary instrument and love, was the clarinet.  He helped form a Jazz Band that was number one rated for the "classes C" school marching band. Clint won several number one ratings for his clarinet solos.  He Graduated with the Class of 1956 from Phillips County High School.  Clint participated at the Orange Bowl Football Halftime Show with Colorado University Marching Band, January 1, 1957.

In March of 1958 he married Janet Norman from Imperial NE.  Their children are Jammie Lea May (Michael) of Anna, TX, Jerald “Jerry” Clinton Wood (Lori), of Ft. Collins, CO and Joni Kay Smith of Plano, TX.  He had four Grandchildren, Dorian and Nicholas Knowles, Jacob and Joshua Wood, as well as five Nephews, Todd and Brian Sprague and Jeffery (deceased 1962), Scott and Chris Searcy.

Clint worked in Construction in Dallas for Henry C Beck as foreman on many commercial properties, including One Main Place in downtown Dallas. He branched out on his own and started his own commercial construction company in Richardson, TX, CLW Enterprises. He would later become a Manager for a Jazz Band out of Reno, NV.  He moved back to the Dallas area to be near his family in 2006.
