Cleo Blaske Veatch

Cleo Blaske Veatch, age 85, of Cumby, Texas, passed away May 11, 2011, in Commerce, Texas. Cleo was born June 28, 1925, in McKinney, Texas, to Ebb and Ada (Kannady) Hathcock. Cleo married Edward Blaske who preceded her in death in 1977. She later married Floyd Veatch who also preceded her in death in 1983. Cleo attended Altoga schools and spent her early life cotton farming with her parents and siblings. In 1945, she moved to Lone Oak and worked for Haggar Pant Factory for five years and then worked at LTV Electro-Systems for one year. Cleo received her state beautician license and practiced for ten years. She moved to Perryton, Texas in 1962 and devoted herself to bowling, participating in state and national tournaments. In 1996, Cleo moved back to Cumby, Texas to be near her family and spend her remaining years. She was a Baptist church member her entire life. She is survived by her son, Ron Blaske and wife, Brenda of Cumby, Texas; grandchildren, Niki Blaske of East Mountain, Texas, Pilar McLemore and husband, Stephen, also of East Mountain, Brandon Blaske of Greenville, Texas, and Ryan Blaske and wife, Courtney of Cumby, Texas; great-grandchildren, Bishop Williams, Verona Williams, and Allison Blaske; brother, Leroy Hathcock; nieces, Darlene Miller, Loraine Greer, Vicky Arnold, Margaret Ann Abbott, and Paula Jo Fowels; nephews, Mike Hathcock, Randy Morris, James Morris, and Les Vance; and numerous other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Pauline Morris. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
