Cleburne Eldridge

Cleburne Eldridge, age 99, longtime resident of McKinney, TX, a member of the World’s Greatest Generation, passed away July 17, 2014, in McKinney, TX. Cleburne was born June 14, 1915 near the community of White Rock, TX to Will and Lillie (Jacobs) Eldridge. Cleburne spent his youth raised on a cotton farm near Wolfe City, TX the third of ten children. He married Naomi Hill on June 26, 1942 in Greenville, TX and just recently marked 72 years of marriage.

Cleburne a World War II veteran answered his Country’s call for duty in a time of need and proudly served in the United States Army from 1941- 1945, serving in France and Germany. Cleburne retired from the US Veteran’s Administration and later from the McKinney Job Corps. Cleburne was a member of the Waddill Street Baptist Church in McKinney, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi Eldridge of McKinney, Texas; son, David Eldridge and wife Melody, also of McKinney; grandchildren, Julie Eldridge Earnest and husband, Chris of Frisco, TX, and Jill Eldridge Sullivan and husband, Josh of McKinney, TX; great-grandchildren, Emma Olivia Earnest, Elin Ann Earnest, and Jack Eldridge Sullivan; brothers, John Eldridge of Killeen, TX, Billy Eldridge of Wolfe City, TX, Charles Eldridge of Greenville, TX, and James Eldridge of Dallas, TX; and numerous other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Gary L. Eldridge, brothers, Odell Eldridge, Ray Eldridge, and Willie Eldridge, and sisters, Irene Dunn and Susie Watson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm., Monday, July 21, 2014, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, TX. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during visitation from 4:00-6:00 pm, Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
