Claude F. "Franklin" Lord, Jr.

Claude F. (Franklin) Lord, Jr., age 86, of Richardson, Texas, passed away July 25, 2008, in Richardson. He was born December 9, 1921, in Texarkana, Texas, the son of Claude Franklin and Viola Love (Shamburger) Lord, Sr. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, Texas. He continued his education in pursuit of a Master’s Degree at East Texas State University. Claude served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps in the CBI Theater. He was stationed in India (now Pakistan), flying supplies over the Himalayas into China. On September 12, 1942, he married Clara Eugenia Shipp in Marshall, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1989. He married Norma S. Cope in 1990 in Mesquite, Texas. He worked in engineering documentation with Geophysical Service, Inc., a division of Texas Instruments, from 1963 to 1988. He was a member of the Masons, American Legion, American Management Association, The Society of Exploration Geophysicists and was a member of East Ridge Christian Church in Mesquite, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Norma; daughters, Eva Cynthia Cook of Olathe, Kansas, Samanthia Elaine Spence of Richardson; step-children, Donna Shepherd of Montgomery, Texas and Frances Eubanks of Richardson; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Brother Dan H. Carroll officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home after 5:00 PM, on Monday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
