Funeral services for Christy Sue Gibson, 55, of Prosper, formerly of Farmersville and Trenton, will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, August 10th at the First United Methodist Church of Trenton, with Rev. Buddy Cole and Rev. Sharon O'Connor officiating. Interment will follow in Pike Cemetery in Collin County, under the direction of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Whitewright. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, August 9, at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Trenton. Mrs. Gibson passed from this life, to her eternal life with the Lord on Thursday, August 05, 2010, at her home in Prosper. Christy Sue Rice was born on October 30, 1954, in Durant Oklahoma, to Donald James Rice and Bonnie Sue McLean Rice. She was raised and educated in Durant, Oklahoma and Trenton, Texas. On July 18, 1998, Christy married Gary Gibson in Cedar Creek, Texas, where they made their home for the next two years before moving back to Trenton. Christy had worked for Wal-Mart in Greenville for 6 years before retiring in 2007. The things that meant the most to Christy were making a home for her husband, spending time with her grandchildren and caring for her "little Divas" Moet, Dixie and Fiona. She had been a member of the First United Methodist Church since her childhood, and had lived in Prosper for the last three years, moving there from Farmersville. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 12 years, Gary Gibson, of Prosper; three children, Michael Grounds of Lawton Oklahoma, Stacy Grounds of Killeen and Cheri Montes and husband Rafael, of Grandfield Oklahoma; her mother, Bonnie Sue Stovall of Trenton; father Donald Rice of Mapleton Mn;15 grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Pat Rice of Minneapolis, MN, Jody Rice, of Mapleton, MN, and Wendy Burk, and husband Richie, of Trenton; and one brother, John F Rice and wife, Michelle, of Wilmington North Carolina. She is also survived by three step-children, SFC Jeremy Gibson and wife Erin, of Sierra Vista Arizona; Kristal Menchaca and husband Robert, of Sterling, Virginia and Jessica Tergerson and husband Michael, of Lubbock; mother-in-law, Virginia Gibson of Blanket, Texas; brothers in law, Bruce Gibson of Bastrop, William Gibson of Odessa, and Brandon Merworth and wife Cricket, of Brenham; sisters in law, Ardith Tompkins and husband Mike, of Bastrop, Judy Woolis of Odessa, Donna Faglie and husband, Bobby, of Blanket Texas and Linda Maker of Midland; and numerous other family members. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Wendell Stovall and father-in-law, W. L. "Hoot" Gibson.
