Christina Ann Little Monroe

Christina Ann (Little) Monroe of Allen, Texas passed on to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 31, 2009 after a faithful and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born to Eric and Martha Little in Elkhorn, Wisconsin on March 9, 1970. Christina grew up in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin competitively water skiing for the Twin Lakes Aquanuts Water Ski Club. She won the Willa Cook Outstanding Female Skier award in 1985 and 1987. Christina graduated from Woodlands Academy and then attended Baylor University on a water ski scholarship. While there Christina pledged Tri– Delt and became the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi. During her summers she worked for Sea World as a performance skier. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in 1992 Christina went on to pursue her Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University and shortly thereafter became a Nurse Practitioner in Cardiothoracic Care. She worked for Medical City –Dallas and Zale Lipshy Hospitals and the North Texas Heart Center at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. In September of 1995, Christina was married to Joe Monroe and moved to Rockwall, Texas, fulfilling a dream of hers to have a home on the lake. Five years later in September 2000, Christina gave birth to her precious daughter Susan Michelle. Throughout the struggle of her disease, Christina lived each and every day with the joy and love she had for Michelle. Christina was loved by so many friends and family. She had the most contagious laugh and loved life with all the fun and activity each day brought. She loved to snow ski and run her 5 miles each day. She loved her yellow lab, Woodson. Her legacy will live on in all the hearts she has touched. Christina Ann Little Monroe was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Little. She is survived by her daughter Susan Michelle Monroe, father Eric Little and wife Terry (Fontana, WI), brother Eric Little and wife Jodi (Lake Mills, WI), sister Susan Hunter and husband Ralph (Colleyville, TX), nephews; Matthew, Cory, Brandon and Christian Hunter, and nieces; Katie, Carley and Emily Little. The visitation will take place Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Allen, Texas, Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 10:00 am with Father Tim officiating and the graveside service to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, reception to follow at St. Jude Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Catholic Church for a memorial fund in honor of Christina. In Christina’s words to all her friends and family, “Eternity is endless. Keep the faith!”
