Charles “Charlie” Almeda Stoner Simmons, age 86, of Celina, Texas passed away on February 1, 2013 in Plano, Texas. She was born on January 2, 1927 in Brady, Texas to Rebekah White and J.C. Stoner. Charlie married Gene Simmons on March 7, 1947 in Dallas, Texas. She was an Accounts Receivable Supervisor with Briggs-Weaver Machinery Company for 36 years and a member Bethel Baptist Church in Celina.
Charlie is survived by her children, Lanny Ray Simmons and his wife, Sharon of Carrollton, Texas, Sandra Kay Grimes and her husband, Phillip of Celina, Texas; four grandchildren, Collette Newman, Jami Simmons, Lesli Simmons, Allen Grimes and his wife, Becky; six great-grandchildren, Dylan Tabor, Alyssa Newman, Lane Newman, Jordan Newman, Brandon Newman, Connor Grimes.
Charlie is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Simmons; parents, J.C. and Rebekah Stoner; brother, Earl Stoner and sister, Effie Gober.
A Funeral Service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Celina on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Cliff Lester officiating. Interment will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery. A Visitation will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Celina on Sunday, February 3, 2013 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
