Charles "Chuck" Rettmeier

Charles “Chuck” Rettmeier, age 65, of McKinney, Texas, passed away January 15, 2010, in Cape Canaveral, Florida after a courageous battle with pulmonary hypertension. Chuck was born February 6, 1944, in New York City, New York, to Charles David and Isabelle (Reed) Rettmeier. He married Sharon Teal on October 22, 1965, in Myrtle Beach , South Carolina . Chuck graduated from Western Oklahoma State College with an associate of science degree. Chuck retired from the United States Air Force after twenty-three years as an air traffic controller. He later worked as a project manager for EDS and Herman Miller. Chuck is a past member of the Plano VFW and was also a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. He attended McKinney Fellowship Bible Church in McKinney . He was a caring and devoted husband to his wife, Sharon Rettmeier of McKinney, Texas; an incredible father to his son, Charles Reed Rettmeier of Anna, Texas, and his daughters and son-in-laws; Teal Marie and Stephen Scott of Allen, Texas and Tara Lynne and Rick Schulte of McKinney, Texas; He was a fun loving grandfather to his seven grandchildren, Keely Marie, Jacob Calan Reed, Tanner Stephen, MaKenna Teal, Tyler Reed, Emma Francis, and Charles Elias. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Rettmeier and leaves behind two loving sisters and a brother-in-law, Alice Joy and Larry Kelly of Norwich, New York and Joan Marie Beers of Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Funeral services and military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen , Texas . Donations may be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, www.phassociation.org.
