Charles Painter passed away March 11, 2007. He was born August 5, 1923 to Charlie B. and Gertrude (Forman) Painter in Plano, Texas. Charles graduated from Plano High School when Plano had 11 grades and only one high school. He started at the bottom floor of the building and graduated at the top of the building. Charles joined the Air force and served in WWII where he learned to fly. After leaving the Air Force, he crop dusted in The Valley and flew river patrol. After 10 years he moved back to Plano and in 1959 he opened P & R Auto Supply in Richardson. He retired from P & R in 1988. He played golf and flew his pride and joy, a 1942 Stearman and J3. Charles was 32nd Degree mason and a member of the Plano Masonic Lodge for 60 years, including Shrines and Scottish Rite. Charles is survived by his wife of 45 years, friend and caretaker, Nita of McKinney; daughters, Dedra Brooks of California, and Laura fisher and her husband, Jerry; 2 grandchildren, Dustin and Mandy of McKinney; great granddaughter, Rylee; nieces, Barbara Bennie and Ginny Logan. Preceding him in death were his parents and son, Charles Ray Painter. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 14, 2007, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Plano Mutual Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Winston Davis, Ralph Pearson, Danny Doyle, John Ciruti, Preston Staley and Tim Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be W. N. “Buck” Saigling, Ron Roland and Bill Christie. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Tuesday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening beginning at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made to Scottish Rite Children’s Medical or Plano Mutual Cemetery.
