Charles “Chick” Owens of Allen, Texas passed away April 3, 2015 at the age of 71. He was born November 1, 1943 to James “Jim” and Vera “Beady” (Payne) Owens in Floydada, Texas. Chick married Vickey Fair on May 26, 1964 in Floydada, Texas. He attended Texas Tech University and Southern Methodist University, where he earned a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired in 2011 after forty-five combined years with Recognition Equipment and BancTec. Chick is survived by his wife, Vickey Owens of Allen, Texas; daughter, Tammy Hoover and husband, Alex of Heath, Texas; son, Danny Owens and wife Kimberly of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, Hannah, Joshua, and Caleb Hoover and Hudson, Olivia, and Hayden Owens; sister, Johnnie Ward of Lubbock, Texas; and brother, Dale Owens of Moss Point, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Irene King, Evelyn Pollan, Edd Owens, W.H. Owens, Alma Petty, George Owens, and Billy Fred Owens. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
