Charles Melton Mansfield, age 77, of Balch Springs, Texas, passed away July 26, 2010, in Balch Springs. Charles was born August 15, 1932 in Princeton, Texas, to Charley Lloyd and Winnie (Putnam) Mansfield. He married Maria Elena Garcia on November 5, 1953 in Durant, Oklahoma. Charles was a greens superintendant for numerous golf courses. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and a man of God. He is survived by his children, Norma Walden and husband, David of Pinedale, Wyoming, Kenneth Mansfield and wife, Diane of Balch Springs, Texas, Roger Mansfield of Mesquite, Texas, Sandra Lopez and husband, Edward also of Balch Springs, Texas, Charles S. Mansfield and wife, Shelia of Mesquite, Texas, Judy Weiss and husband, Kevin of Royse City, Texas, and Angelique Smith and husband, Charles of Balch Springs, Texas; grandchildren, Tanya O’Dell, Kenneth Mansfield, Melissa Alphin, Derrick Walden, Brittany Mansfield, Stephen Smith, Matthew Weiss, Kristin Ridgle, Sarah Mansfield, Joshua Lopez, Jeremiah Lopez, Randy Castaneda, Haley Castaneda, Preston Smith, and Ashlee Sewell; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Mansfield and Naomi Mansfield, both of Arkansas; and a host of other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, brother, John Mansfield, and sister, Mary Francis Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 30, 2010 at the funeral home.
