Charles Edger Howington

Charles Edger Howington of Allen, Texas, went to be with the Lord on November 25, 2014 at the age of 73. Charles was born March 25, 1941 in Dallas, Texas to Watt Edger and Cordie Ray (Vaughn) Howington. He married Carolyn Jeanne Kroehler on September 18, 1988 in Long Island, New York. Charles grew up in Dallas, Texas where he attended Woodrow Wilson High School. He was a chef for over fifty years where he worked at The Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Charles was also employed with EDS in Plano, Texas and the Allen ISD in the student nutrition department. He enjoyed bowling, carpentry, and was a student of the Bible. Chuck enjoyed worshipping the Lord by singing in the choir at First Baptist Church in Allen.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Howington of Allen, Texas; sons, Timothy Howington and wife, Terri of Rogers, Arkansas, Charles (Chip) Howington and wife, Dorothy of London, Arkansas, and Michael Howington of Allen, Texas; daughter, Robyn Gray and husband, Tim of Conway, Arkansas; granddaughters, Moriah Howington of London, Arkansas, Lauren Natvig and husband, Eric of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Anna Gray of Conway, Arkansas; grandsons, Karac Howington of Conway, Arkansas, Luke Howington and wife, Michelle of Waxahachie, Texas, and Joshua Howington of Rogers, Arkansas; sister, Sylvia (Sissy) Fields of Jackson, Wisconsin; mother-in-law, Helen Kroehler of Massapequa Park, New York; brother-in-law, Robert Kroehler and wife, Kate of Annandale, Virginia; sister-in-law, Rachel Howington of Rockwall, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews who were very much loved and cherished.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Watt and Cordie Ray Howington and five brothers and two sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 28, 2014, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, December 1, 2014 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
