Mr. Charles Richard “Rick” Honea, age 61, of Melissa, Texas passed away July 18, 2008, in Dallas, Texas. He was born August 2, 1946, in McKinney, Texas to Richard Edgar and Edna Jinnie V. (Biggs) Honea. Rick was a 1964 graduate of McKinney High School. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. On June 23, 1984 he married Barbara Volk in McKinney, Texas. Rick was a principal and president of Meritax, LLC in Dallas. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Allen, Texas. Rick is survived by his wife, Barbara Volk Honea; sons and daughters-in-law, Charlie and Laura Honea of Southlake, Texas, Brian and Jeny Honea of Melissa, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Jimmy Hale of Flower Mound, Texas and daughter, Kathy Root of Irving, Texas; 9 grandchildren; father, Richard “Dick” Honea of McKinney; sister, Mollie Self and brother, Jimmie Honea both also of McKinney, and brother, Tommy Honea of Anna, Texas. His mother, Edna Jinnie V. Honea preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 21, 2008, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Trey Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m., Sunday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
