Charles E. Edwards

Charles E. Edwards, age 73, loving father passed away on January 21, 2013 due to heart complications. He was born on July 10, 1939 in Ames, IA to Paul E. and Mary J. (Scott) Edwards.  

Charles grew up in Jackson, MS and graduated from Murrah High School. He then earned his undergraduate degree from Ole Miss where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. During his four years there, he met and married Mary Jane Berry on June 23, 1962. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of Michigan. In 1969, Charles and Jane moved to Dallas, TX where he was self-employed as a consulting actuary. 

Charles was active in several community groups. He was a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, lay reader at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Foundation and coach to many of his daughter’s sports teams. Later in life, his true passions were golf, politics and golden retrievers.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Emily Edwards Garrett and her husband, Scott of Frisco, TX; brothers, Scott Edwards and his wife, Peggy of Nashville, TN, Larry Edwards and his wife, Pam of Jackson, MS; several nieces and nephews; his faithful, furry companion Murphy and granddogs Abbey and Winston.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Berry Edwards; grandson, Logan Edward Garrett and his parents, Paul and Mary Edwards. 

There will not be a public memorial service as the family gathered in celebration of his life just before his passing.
