Charles E. "John" Bush

Charles E. “John” Bush was born September 25, 1924 at Sedalia, Texas to Rully Bush and Mary Ellen Cato Bush. He married Eva Gwendolyn Summerlin on November 23, 1949 in Bonham, Texas. He died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Homestead of Sherman at the age of 86. John was not his given name, but it was the name that everybody knew him by. He received that name when as a child he and his family picked cotton. John being the youngest of nine children was always the last to finish, so he was always called Johnny come last. The name stuck with him. John served his nation in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pilot Grove. John was a retired employee of Grumman Olson in Sherman. He loved animals and to garden. He loved to work and was quite a handyman. He loved his family very much. He is survived by wife, Gwen Bush of Whitewright; daughter, Debi Davidson and husband Stephen of Sherman; granddaughters, Amy Shaw and husband Matt of Whitewright; Angie Eads and husband Brent of Whitewright; great-grandchildren, Kelby Shaw; Kendall Shaw; Devin Eads; Lilly Eads; Shelby Eads; and Seth Eads; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Stephanie Bush; brothers, Travis, Vaden, J.D., and Lyndel Bush; sisters, Velma Mackey; Ruby Grammer; Alda Mae Young; and Ona Barrett. Graveside Services will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Whitewright, Texas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Don Hollister. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Friday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday, December 17, 2010 from 6-8pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas.
