Chakravarthi Sharma

Dr. Chakravarthi Sharma, 79, died on July 9th, 2015, at Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, TX.

Dr. Sharma retired in 1994 as an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and retired again in 2002 from the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. He authored four books on Hindu Philosophy including: Self-Offerings, Shivam, Isopadesam and Sacchidanandini, and he was a founding member of the Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Temple in Kenner, LA. Most recently, he had accepted a position as a guest lecturer at the University of Pune in India.

Surviving him are his wife of 53 years, Rajani Sharma, of Allen, TX, two sisters: Kamala Iyer and Sushila Raut, four children: Ravi and Renee Sharma of Freehold, NJ, Shashi and Lee Sharma of Opelika, AL, Sudhir and Karin Sharma of Allen, TX and Sushama and Brian Brimmer of Longview, TX, and eight grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to either: the Sankara Nethralaya Ophthalmic Mission Trust Inc (http://omlog.org/), a charitable not-for-profit eye hospital that brings world-class eye care to the people of India, or AIM for Seva (http://aimforsevausa-public.sharepoint.com/Pages/Dallas.aspx) dedicated to bringing high quality education to rural India.
