Cecil Edward Shaw

Cecil Edward Shaw, age 93, of Whitewright, Texas, passed away September 5, 2015. He was born on April 3, 1922 in Midlothian, Texas, to John Henry and Elizabeth Ellen (Armstrong) Shaw. On March 17, 1956, Cecil married Betty Kathryn Davis in Kaufman, Texas. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Cecil was honorably discharged after serving 4 ½ years as a Boatswain Mate Second Class on the USS Samuel Chase. His tours included Asiatic Pacific with 1 star, American Area, African European with 5 stars and World War II with victory medal. After Cecil’s military career he trained in auto mechanics and worked for Ford Dealers in the Dallas area for 40 years, primarily working on transmissions.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Todd; brother, Bobby Shaw and sister-in-laws, Nelma Shaw and Sally Shaw; stepchildren, Dianna Graham and Steve Graham; grandchildren, Jonathan Shaw, Diana Shaw Strickland, Terri Shaw Kountz, Joe Edward Shaw, Tiffany Graham Phillips, Curtis Jackson and Edward Jackson; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; Pastor Roy Capps and Mary Jane Hawthorne; and many nieces and nephews.

Cecil is preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Elizabeth Ellen Shaw; wife, Betty Kathryn Davis; children, Gary Edward Shaw and Curtis Wayne Shaw; 5 sisters; and 4 brothers.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Vittitoe Cemetery, 672 Andy Thomas Road, Whitewright, Texas 75491. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held Tuesday evening, September 8, 2015, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
