IN LOVING MEMORY

Catherine Lucille Dunn

Dec 27 1920 - Apr 10 2014

Lucille passed away at 4:44 a.m. on April 10, 2014 at the Whitesboro Nursing Home, where she had been for about 18 months.

Catherine “Lucille” was born Dec. 27, 1920 in Valdasta, Collin County, Texas to William Bascomb Caudell and Myrtle May (Combest) Caudell.

Lucille graduated from Blue Ridge High School. Just five months after graduation, she married Thomas Syke Dunn on Oct 1, 1938. Lucille and Syke celebrated a 50th, then a 60th anniversary, and were together for a total of 64 years.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Syke Dunn; both her parents; sisters Vannoys Cave and Barbara Ruth Coffman; brothers Fate and Granville Caudell;   son-in-law Claude Hague; and great- grand-children Seth Duncan and Noah Baird.

She is survived by all five children, Rodney Syke Dunn & Wife Paula of Prosper, Texas, Marjorie Lucille Hague, of Archer City, Texas, Boyd Ray Dunn & wife Shirley of Dorchester, Texas, Leo O’Dell Dunn & wife Donna of Grapevine, Texas, and Jackie Dunn &wife Caroline of Sulphur Springs, Texas. She is also survived by 17 grand-children, 33 great grandchildren, 4 great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

In her young married life, Lucille traveled the country extensively with her family, working in the cotton, strawberry, blackberry, and bean fields. She also worked at the Haggar Pants Company for over 20 years. No harder working lady ever lived. Those who knew her said over and over, “She was one of sweetest, kindest ladies I have ever known”.

In addition to working outside the home to help support her family, she never once forgot her upbringing and her faith in God. She made sure they all attended Sunday school and church. Her children were never forgotten and she stayed in touch with them and her grandchildren on special occasions such as birthdays and Christmas. She was a faithful wife, mother, and friend. She was totally selfless with all her children and this trait lives on through her grandchildren.

She loved beautiful roses and irises. Both were gorgeous in her front yard. Lucille simply loved all kinds of beautiful plants. She always said, “Stick it in the ground. It’ll grow.”

This World is a better place for her having been here and she will never be forgotten.

We’re not saying goodbye. We’re simply saying, “We’ll see you later”.

All Her Children
