Carolyn Smith, age 80, of Plano, Texas, passed away on July 21, 2015. She was born on March 15, 1935, in Cass County, Texas to Joe Jefferson and Lillie Mae (Wilbanks) Clayton. On October 30, 1954, Carolyn married Alfred Edward Smith in Atlanta, Texas. She retired from the University of Texas at Dallas after 20 years. Carolyn was a member of First Baptist Church in Plano.
She is survived by her son, Keith Edward Smith and wife Karen Ann of Buford, Georgia; daughter, Terri Carol Haynes and husband Steven of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Christopher Fuller and wife Robin of Plano, Texas, Rachael Bromander and husband Scott of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Steven Andrew Haynes and wife Alison of Allen, Texas; great-grandchildren, Serenity Fuller, Jackson Bromander, Jackson and Brenna Haynes; sisters, Sarah Stuckey of Glen Valley, Virginia and Lena Meares of Plano, Texas.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Edward Smith; parents, Joe Jefferson and Lillie Mae Clayton; brothers, Tom and Jimmy Clayton.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 1300 E. 15th Street, Plano, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Friday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway N., Allen, Texas.
