Carolyn Russell Dodson

Carolyn Russell Dodson, age 81 of Frisco, Texas passed away on November 24, 2014 in Plano, Texas. She was born on April 22, 1933 in Texarkana, Texas. In 1955 she married James O. Dodson, former Dallas Assistant Attorney. Carolyn and James had three girls, Whitney, Kendall and Mallory Dodson. During the later years of her life she lived in Prosper with her daughter and son-in-law, Warren and Mallory Fitch.

Carolyn received a Master’s degree in General Art from North Texas State University. She received a second Master’s degree in Vocational Education from East Texas State University and was involved in writing curriculum for Texas schools. She was a Vocational Education teacher in both DISD and RISD until she retired in 1990. In the 1970’s Carolyn taught art classes at Skyline. During the 1960s she taught Art classes at the Dallas Museum of Art. During the latter part of her life she was an active member of the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and held several volunteer positions with them over the years.

Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Mallory Fitch (Warren) of Prosper, Texas, Whitney Delcourt of Pilot Point, Texas; two grandchildren, Ashton and Dresden Fitch; nieces, Dr. Flora McConnell Hammond of Indiana, Carolyn McConnell Reeder of Florida, Jill Dodson of Houston, Texas; nephew, Paul Dodson, attorney Corpus Christi, Texas. Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughter Kendall Brett Dodson; sister and brother in law, Dr. and Mrs. Charles Fenner McConnell.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Autistic Treatment Center in Dallas.
