Carolyn Ann Barnes, age 79, of McKinney, Texas, passed away December 16, 2015. Carolyn was born October 21, 1936, in McKinney, Texas, to Howard and Lula (Crice) Stewart. She married Sammie C. Barnes on February 8, 1954, in Plano. Carolyn grew up in Branch, Texas and graduated from McKinney High School in 1954. She worked for Texas Instruments for over thirty years where she was a drafter until her retirement in 1989. Carolyn was an artist and a member of the McKinney Art Guild. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching. Carolyn was a member of First United Methodist Church in Plano.
She is survived by her husband, Sammie Barnes of Allen, Texas; children, Randall Barnes and wife, Nancy of Blue Ridge, Texas, Robin Baxter and husband, Curtis of Allen, Texas, Steven Barnes and wife, Kathy of Mesquite, Texas, and Sheri Barnes, also of Allen; grandchildren, Aubree Finch and husband, Aubrey of Decatur, Texas, Alycia Barnes of Richardson, Texas, and Steven Barnes, II of Mesquite, Texas; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Andrew, and Aryanna Barnes; and sister, Norma Morrison of Richardson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Craig Baxter, brothers, H. R. Stewart and Hulan Stewart, and sister, Lillian Thompson.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 21, 2015, at Wilson Chapel Cemetery in Lowry Crossing, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., Sunday afternoon at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
