Carollyn Barton Jenkins was born on September 17, 1943, in Sherman, Texas. Her parents were O. M. Barton and Geneva Barton. Carollyn passed away on June 12, 2010. Carollyn attended North Texas State University and then spent a number of years employed by several banks in the area – First National of Anna, First National of Plano, and Plano Bank and Trust. The last 27 years of her career, she was Certification Officer for the Plano Independent School District. She helped any number of prospective teachers obtain their Texas certification. She was especially proud when Kyle graduated college with a music education degree and was certified to teach in the Plano schools, where he is presently employed as a music teacher. Carollyn had been a member of the Christian Church for much of her life but several years ago, she and Kyle joined the Methodist church. Carollyn is survived by her beloved son, Kyle Jenkins, of Plano, and a sister, Joyce Barton of Garland. Carollyn is also survived by a niece and 2 nephews, Courtney, Clint, and Derek Barton of Ennis. Carollyn was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Royce Barton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, Highway 75, Exit 38, Ridgeview Drive in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow in the family plot at Van Alstyne Cemetery in Van Alstyne, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
