Carole Jean Cummings Hysmith

Carole Jean Cummings Hysmith, age 74, of Plano, Texas, passed away May 28, 2011, in Plano. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted R. and Veva (Lynch) Cummings and brother, Robert Earl Cummings. Carole was born October 20, 1936 in Houston, Texas. Carole moved to Texas City, Texas at an early age. She graduated from Texas City High School and was active in the band as well as an honor student. Carole married Clinton Hysmith on June 18, 1953, in Texas City, Texas. She was a loving mother to three beautiful daughters. Carole later graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Math and Special Education. After graduation, she began teaching in Nederland ISD and later moved to Plano in 1978 where she taught Math and History in the Richardson ISD at Apollo Junior High. Carole sponsored student clubs through the years including Enterprise City. She was very active at First United Methodist Church in Plano serving as an officer for United Methodist Women, taught Sunday School and Bible School, and the Mobil Wives Club. Carole really enjoyed the outdoors and always grew beautiful flowers. She was an avid reader who had a passion for Texas history. Carole and Clinton traveled extensively and had a wonderful life together. She is survived by her husband, Clinton Hysmith of Plano, Texas; daughters, Susan Savarino and husband, Sal of Spring, Texas, Carrie Martin and husband, Gary of Nederland, Texas, and Merri Haley and husband, Mike of La Porte, Texas; grandchildren, Clinton Martin and wife, Nicole, Krystal Cunningham, Nancy Martin-Garcia and husband, Sandro, Sam Savarino, Justin Cunningham, and Chris Haley; great-grandchildren, Emily and Khale Martin, and Violet Martin-Garcia; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at First United Methodist Church in Plano, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Tuesday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Plano Building Fund, 3160 Spring Creek Pkwy., Plano, Texas, 75074 or the charity of your choice.
