IN LOVING MEMORY

Carol Ann Lizotte Dunlap

Feb 03 1944 - Aug 03 2007

Carol Ann Lizotte Dunlap, 63, died peacefully on August 3, 2007, at her home in Plano, Texas. Carol was born on February 3, 1944 in Fall River, Massachusetts. Her parents, Lionel Richard and Rita Lafleur Lizotte, moved their family to Raeford, North Carolina in 1951. Carol's passion for books and learning earned her the title of valedictorian of her senior class at Hoke County High School in 1962. A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and a passionate Tarheel basketball fan, she completed her Master's degree in Social Work, and served clients in the poorest neighborhoods of Durham, NC. Her experiences as a social worker were the foundation of her political beliefs, which found an outlet through activism within the Democratic party. In 1988, Carol met Alan Dunlap, an engineer with E-Systems in Plano, Texas. They married in 1990 and began a honeymoon that ended only with Alan's death in 1996. They treasured each moment together, especially their time at the beaches of the Atlantic coast. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Modlin of Austin, Texas; Alan's three daughters, Sue Fick and Lori McMillan of California and Jan Geiger of Arizona; her mother, Rita Lizotte of Raeford, NC; sister Diane Clenney; and brothers Roger and Donald Lizotte. She will also be missed by her lifelong friends and family in North Carolina, Georgia, New Jersey, and Texas (especially those Collin County Democrats!). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Oprah's Angel Network.
