Carl Roy

Carl Roy, age 90, of Exeter, Missouri, passed away April 1, 2010, in McKinney, Texas. Carl was born September 23, 1919, in Wakita, Oklahoma, to Henry and Flora (Armour) Roy. On October 23, 1945, he married Vermo Sampler, in Wichita, Kansas. She preceded him in death on September 8, 2009 after sixty-three years of marriage. Carl proudly served in the United States Army as a supply sergeant during World War II where he served tours in Italy and Africa. After his discharge from the Army, he worked as an auto body technician. Carl later retired from Boeing after twenty years of service. He worked as a cattle rancher for the rest of his life. Carl was a lifetime member of the VFW. Carl was instrumental in starting the VFW post in Cassville, Missouri. He enjoyed bowling and building things with his hands. He is survived by his son, Ronnie Roy and wife, Patricia of Garland, Texas; grandchildren, Scott Roy of Rowlett, Texas, Tracy Dunivan of Independence, Missouri, Shanda Thornton and husband, Dave of Dallas, Georgia, and Stacey Harris and husband, Wes of Cassville, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Brittni Dunivan, Keaton Roy, Kamryn Roy, and Cooper Thornton; and a host of other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Robert Roy, six sisters, and five brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 5, 2010, at First Baptist Church of Blair, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Martha Cemetery in Martha, Oklahoma.
