Carl Moffitt

Mr. Carl Moffitt, age 83, of Allen, Texas passed away on March 15, 2004 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on October 20, 1920 to Luther Carl and Annis Elizabeth (Cushenberry) Moffitt, Sr in Dallas, Texas. On September 8, 1942, he married Elizabeth Bethel in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was a machine shop supervisor with Associated Air Center but subsequently worked at Home Depot in Plano, Texas. He was a glider mechanic in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a veteran of the European Theater. He was awarded a campaign medal with 7 Bronze Stars, distinguished unit badge with 1 Oak Leaf cluster and good conduct medal. His unit supported the 82nd and 101st Airborne during the Normandy Invasion. He was a Shriner at Hella Temple in Dallas, where he was a member of the clown unit and a 32nd Degree Mason with the Gus Garrison Lodge in Winnsboro, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Beth; daughter, Ann Hoffman and husband, Arthur of Plano; grandson, Dane Hoffman of Plano; and numerous loving family and friends. His parents preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 17, 2004 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel.
