IN LOVING MEMORY

Brazil Victor "Vick" Classe

Dec 06 1925 - Aug 24 2016

Brazil Victor “Vick” Classe of McKinney, Texas passed away on August 24, 2016 at the age of 90.  He was born on December 6, 1925 to Charlie and Lena (Musso) Classe in Dallas, Texas.

Vick Classe defines the greatest generation.  He and his two brothers and sisters were raised during the Depression by their widowed mother, who held the family together on a seamstress salary.  When World War II started, Vick enlisted in the US Navy as soon as he could in 1942, one month prior to his 17th birthday.  He truly saw the world, serving in all three theatres of the war, the Asiatic/Pacific, European/African and the Middle Eastern Campaigns, and was one of the first to go ashore in Japan after the Atomic Bomb had been dropped.

Vick returned home in 1946 with five medals and his VA Benefits in hand, ready to start his life. As many young veterans did, he soon married and went into business. Vick was blessed to be married to the love of his life, Rosalie for 63 years.  Shortly after they married, Vick went into the grocery business with his brothers and brother-in-law.  He remained in the grocery business until he retired in 1990.

During his life, Vick was an avid sports fan.  If Dallas put a team on the field, court or ice, you could count on him to be cheering the loudest.  You could also count on him to be willing to go out on Thanksgiving Day and throw the football around before the "real game" started (the Cowboys of course)!  He always kept the mood light.  He was the one entertaining the family with his classic jokes or stories about the "good ole days."

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie; daughter, Mary; son, Joe, (Victoria); granddaughter, Baylee; sister, Rosalie Palmer; and a dozen adoring nieces and nephews.

Vick was preceded in death by his mother and father, Charlie and Lena Classe; his sister, Josephine Bigelow; and brothers, Joe Classe and Sam Classe.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas. Interment will follow at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday evening, September 5, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. A rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made in Vick’s honor to St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church Building Fund, 110 St. Gabriel Way, McKinney, Texas 75069.
