Bobby Jack Slate, age 77, of Plano, Texas, passed away October 2, 2011, in Plano. Bobby was born February 14, 1934, in Tahoka, Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Lucille and Roy Caster and father and step-mother, Dick and Laura Slate and brother, Charles Slate. Bobby retired after forty years in the air conditioning and heating industry. He worked as a government contractor constructing family housing and barracks on military bases across the United States. He was a proud member of 1st Marines, Fox Company which included fourteen months in Korea. He was married to Eva Slate for over fifty years and resided in Plano, Texas for the last twenty years. He is survived by his wife, Eva; two daughters, Karen Bouterse and husband, John of Frisco, Texas and Sherri Lewis and husband, Darryl of Plano, Texas; four grandsons, Bryan Lewis and wife, Jenna of Allen, Texas, Jonathan Lewis of Plano, Texas, Wes Luckock of Frisco, Texas, and Alex Bouterse of Frisco, Texas; two granddaughters, Hayley Luckock and Brianna Bouterse, both of Frisco, Texas; one great-grandson, Kaden Lewis of Allen, Texas; brother, Jessie Caster and wife, Betty of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; sister, Carrolle Sellers of Mansfield, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 6, 2011, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Haven of Memories Cemetery in Canton Texas at 2:30 p.m., Thursday.
