Billy James Powers, age 61, of McKinney, Texas passed away January 19, 2013. He was born December 15, 1951 in Pecos, Texas to Wilburn David Powers and Vera Elizabeth (Branch) Powers. On February 1, 1975 he married Dorothy Lorene Graves in Pecos, Texas. Billy grew up in Pecos and graduated from Pecos High School in 1970. He attended Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas. Billy worked for Roper's and Foxworth-Galbraith Lumber for many years. He enjoyed fishing, playing 42 dominoes and spending hours playing board games with his family.
He is survived by his children, Stephanie Barnes and husband, Shaun of McKinney, Texas, James Powers and wife, Emily of Burleson, Texas, Cara Powers of Burleson, Texas; grandchildren, Kaleb Powers, Brayson Barnes, Blake Powers and Cayson Barnes; brother, Mickey K. Ford of Pecos, Texas; sister, Stella “Jackie” Taylor and husband, Jerry of Payette, Idaho, several nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Powers and his parents, Wilburn and Vera Powers.
