Mr. Billy Jake Halter, age 66 of Blue Ridge, Texas passed away peacefully on May 15, 2006 in Blue Ridge. He was born on March 30, 1940 in Clay County, Arkansas to Jake and Mayme (Jenkins) Halter. He married Mary Fielder on October 1, 1960 in McKinney, Texas. Mr. Halter was a machinist. Mr. Halter’s hobby was small engine repair. He was president of the 4-H Club while his children were in school. Mr. Halter participated in the Lone Star Garden Tractor Pulls. He is survived by his wife, Mary Halter of Blue Ridge, Texas; daughters, Laurie Blagburn and husband, Terry also of Blue Ridge, Karin Pierce and husband, Kenny of Farmersville, Texas, and Wendi Douglas and husband, Chris of Blue Ridge, Texas; grandchildren, Jacob Blagburn, Caleb Blagburn, Haleigh Pierce, Tyler Pierce, and Sebastian Douglas; sister, Jewell Leonard and husband, Kenneth of Hooks, Texas; and just like a daughter and son, Sheri Hardin and husband, Jim of Leonard, Texas; Kinley Hardin, Presli Hardin, and Jed Hardin; and a host of other family and friends. Mr. Halter was preceded in death by his parents. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Blue Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the graveside service.
