IN LOVING MEMORY

Bill Corbett Christie

Jul 29 1924 - Nov 28 2008

Bill Corbett Christie was born July 29, 1924, in Quanah, Texas, to Charles Mott and Jesse Robbins Christie. He married Annie Malone Erwin on December 1, 1951 in McKinney, Texas. Bill was a life-long resident of Collin County where he graduated from Plano High School. He attended Texas Christian University on a football scholarship, which was interrupted by his service to the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. His business career never took him far from his love of the farm. Bill was an International Harvester Dealer with his family and he was a farmer and rancher until he became an agricultural loan officer at Collin County National Bank. He retired from the successor bank, Texas American Bank, in 1986. His life always revolved around family and friends, and his community. Bill always had fun, whether it be travel, sports, enjoyable times at the lake, playing cards, or celebrating birthdays. He served his community as a McKinney City Councilman, a longtime member of the Lions Club, and as president of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce. Bill was also a member of First Christian Church of McKinney where he served as an elder. He was an adviser and a friend to all who knew him as well as a beloved father to all of his family who knew him as Daddy Bill. He is survived by his sons, Corbett Christie and his wife, Debbie of San Antonio, John Christie and his wife, Nanny of Aledo, and Tim Christie of McKinney; grandchildren, Candice Christie Singleton, Kelly Christie Pemberton, Caleb Christie, and Joey Christie; two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Hannah. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Charles Jefferson Christie, sister, Eva Aline Christie, and wife, Annie Malone Erwin Christie. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, November 30, 2008, at First Christian Church in McKinney, Texas with Dr. Neill Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior at the church. The family wishes to express it’s gratitude to Bill’s devoted caretakers, Virginia, Ruby, Jane, and Sharrion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to First Christian Church of McKinney or a charity of your choice.
