IN LOVING MEMORY

Betty Marie (Shirey) Triplett

Feb 17 1932 - Jun 04 2012

Betty Marie (Shirey) Triplett aged 80 of McKinney passed away peacefully on the 4th of June with her loving daughter, beloved grandson, his fiancée, as well as her loving niece and nephew at her side.  In the hours preceding her death she was never alone.

Betty was born on the 17th of February 1932 to Charles Russell Shirey and Ura Marie (Shirey) Banovitch in Sherman, TX.    She enjoyed being an only child for about 18 months before her sister; Pat  (Shirey) Haggard arrived on the scene.   Her mother said it was almost like having twins.   Betty spent her childhood in various locations in Texas.

At the tender age of 16, she met the man, Charles Triplett, she would spend the next 59 + years with.   Betty told her daughter during her recent hospital stay that  'if you count the time from when I met your dad until his death, I was with that man 60 years".  Those 60 years began when they met in May 1948.  They were married on August 2nd 1948.  In those 60 years, 3 children arrived.  A son Charles Russell Triplett in 1949, Andrew Carl Triplett in 1952, and Kandyce Marie (Triplett) Woodard in 1955.    Betty worked at a theater selling tickets for part of the first year of marriage, after that she was a homemaker, wife and mom.  She dearly loved all of her children and will be sorely missed by them.

In 1954, she along with Charles found a spiritual way of life that would continue until her death.  On the 5th of May 1955 she dedicated her life to Jehovah God.  She entered into the ministry work as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and continued in that course until her death.

After spending 20 + years as a Mom, in 1980, she became a grandmother, a role she dearly loved.  In 1980 her first grandchild, Daniel Charles Owen, entered her life.  Four years later her second grandchild, Andrea Nicole Triplett came.  Two years later in 1986 her third and final grandchild, Kassie Amanda Marie Woodard appeared.   During the infancy and childhood of each grandchild she cared for them while their parents had to work to make sure they were loved and safe.  She was a great cook but from stories she shared that was not always so.  She said when first married to Charles she buried many suppers in her flowerbed before he got home and would start again.   Perhaps this started the love of flowers she shared with Charles the rest of their life together.   Betty had a way of always seeing the good in people.  Her smile could brighten a room.  She had a huge heart that had room for many people.

Betty was preceded in death by one son: Charles Russell Triplett, her husband: Charles Robert Triplett, mother: Ura Marie (Shirey) Banovitch, father: Charles Russell Shirey, stepfather: Carl Andrew Banovitch, nephew: Mike Haggard.   Betty is survived by her son, Andrew Carl Triplett, and his daughter Andrea Triplett.  She is also survived by her daughter Kandi Woodard and her husband Wade Woodard, their two children, Daniel Owen (and his fiancé Megan) and Kassie Woodard (and her boyfriend Joe}.  She is also survived by her sister Pat Haggard, and her husband Bill Haggard.  Also surviving her is her beloved niece, Sandra Chenoweth and her husband, Gary Chenoweth and daughter, Taylor.  She is survived by three nephews, Tim Haggard and his wife Vickie, Rob Haggard, and Paul Haggard.  Also surviving her is her great niece, Victoria Keesis and her great nephew, Tony Haggard along with 3 great great nieces Ciara, Mikaela and Ryelie.   Entering this world on the same day she left it was her great great nephew, Aiden.  Her daughter of the heart, Mary Darnell as well as her caregiver, Danny Owen also survives Betty.

Special thanks to all who helped after Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer by bringing meals and visiting. Special thanks to the following for their unending help:  Sandra Chenoweth, Wendy Hunter, Zenobia McKinney, Mary Darnell and Megan Atwood.  Special thanks to Dr. Rao who lovingly cared for Betty.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Kingdom Hall – Jehovah’s Witness, 1995 FR 546, McKinney, Texas. To convey condolences or to sign an online registry, please visit www.tjmfuneral.com.
