Betty-Ruth Frazier Dungan

Betty-Ruth Frazier Dungan died December 28, 2011 at her home in McKinney. She was 73. Mrs. Dungan, descendant of a pioneer Collin County family, was raised on the family farm near Chambersville and graduated from McKinney High School and Stephens College in Columbia, MO. Her parents, Harold and Ruth Frazier, were both teachers in McKinney High School. Heritage Farm was homesteaded by her great-grandfather in 1856. Mrs. Dungan married her high school sweetheart, Avalon Dungan, an officer and food scientist in the United States Army. The couple raised four children in college towns and military bases in Monterey, California; Toul, France, Aschaffenburg, Germany; Fort Lee, VA; Holliston, MA; Ithaca, NY and Washington, DC. Mrs. Dungan was an avid reader, traveler and sports fan. Through her many travels and event management skills she developed a nationwide network of friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2012, at the Chambersville United Methodist Church northwest of McKinney. A private family interment will be held at the family farm prior to the service. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. She is survived by four children, Charlie and wife Susan of Washington, DC; Betsy Scott and husband Norman of Chicago, John and wife Jenny Lynn of Tulsa; Rulyn Graves and husband Tom of Greenwich, NY, five grandchildren, Haley and Collin Graves, Kate Scott, Lottie Anne and Lily Dungan. Her brother Claude Frazier and wife Pat live in McKinney. Her sister, Linnet Deily, lives in Houston.
