Betty Helen Pope of Dallas, Texas passed away September 30, 2013 at the age of 88. She was born November 10, 1924 to Alonzo Edgar Terry and Mattie Melvina (Pack) Terry in Roland Community, Texas. Betty married James L. Pope on December 10, 1945 in McKinney, Texas. She was a 1942 graduate of McKinney High School. Betty retired with AT&T in 1978 after 34 years of service. She was a member of Lakewood Assembly of God in Dallas and the Southwestern Bell Pioneer’s Club.
Betty is survived by her sister, Carol Rigo of McKinney, Texas, brother, Eddie Terry and wife, Linda of McKinney; nieces and nephews, Johnny Lewis of Dallas, Texas, Phillip Milstead of McKinney, Texas, Jolly W. Terry and wife, Anetta of Van Alstyne, Texas, Ronnie E. Terry and wife, Debbie of McKinney, Texas, GiGi Keyes and husband, Bruce of McKinney, Texas, Karen Nelson and husband, Marty of Anna, Texas, Lori Sprouse and husband, David of McKinney, Texas, Doris Jeanie Copeland and husband Carl Ray, Jimmy Ray Terry and wife Lala, Kay Lynn Sealf and husband Don Sr., Susie Bell and husband Rickie and several other nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Ray Terry, Roy Terry and J.E. “Jolly” Terry and niece Rhonda S. Lewis.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow the service at Stoney Point Cemetery in Blue Ridge, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
