Betty J. Lewis, of Houston, Texas, passed away on July 19, 2013 at the age of 89. She was born August 12, 1923, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Summie and Mabel (Kitchens) Moates. Betty graduated from Austin College. She had lived in Shreveport, Louisiana for many years. Betty moved to Houston, Texas in 1971, where she was a member of Spring Branch Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her children, Keith Lewis and wife, Dana of McAlester, Oklahoma, Claire Smith and husband, Walter of McKinney, Texas, Cathleen Moore and husband, Greg of Spring, Texas; grandchildren, Jonathan Lewis and wife, Devon, Jeremy Lewis and wife, LeAnn, Don Moore, Marshall Moore, Leslie Smith and Melinda Smith; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Laney and Mattie.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gus Garland Lewis, Jr.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2013, at Grace Presbyterian Village Chapel, 550 E. Ann Arbor, Dallas, Texas.
