IN LOVING MEMORY

Betty Jane Grube Thompson

Jan 11 1941 - Dec 31 2014

Betty Jane Grube Thompson, age 73, of Fairview, Texas, passed away December 31, 2014. Betty was born January 11, 1941, in Bellville, Texas, to Goldie Charles and Nellie Ruth (Dunn) Grube. She married Thomas Cline Thompson on September 1, 1962, in Houston, Texas. Betty was a member of Creekwood United Methodist Church in Fairview.

“Mz. Betty”, as she was known by those who loved her, was blessed with the rare gift of unconditional love. Consistently people have expressed that the world was a better place for her having lived and individuals were better for having known her. Her favorite saying was, “We are making memories”. As we reflect on Mz. Betty’s legacy we honor the memories made in her 25 years as a youth ministry volunteer at First United Methodist Church, Allen; the countless hours on Allen Eagle Escadrille buses, band trips and any and everything to do with Fairhill School, Dallas.

Her love extended to everyone she met, even if only once. She is known to have told many with a great big smile and bright eyes, “you only have to come to the Thompson house once and you are family, always welcome!” It has been said that God created Angels to serve his people on earth. God created Mz. Betty to be in places of need for those in need, she was never happier than when she was making you happy.

She is survived by her daughters, Gretchen Thompson Wild and husband, Steve of Lucas, Texas and Liesl Thompson Jones and husband, Chadd of Fairview, Texas; son, John Kenneth Thompson and wife, Veronica of Wylie, Texas; grandsons, Luke Thompson Wild of Lucas, Texas, Freddie Laredo Cantu of Wylie, Texas, and Maxwell Von Jones of Fairview, Texas; granddaughter, McKenzi Caroline Thompson of Wylie, Texas; brother, Charles “Corky” Hayes Grube and wife, Susan of Houston, Texas; god-daughter, Danielle Rogan of Fairview, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter, Ruth Estelle Thompson.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Creekwood United Methodist Church in Fairview, Texas. Interment will follow at Fitzhugh Cemetery in Lucas, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation at 6:00 p.m., Friday evening at Creekwood United Methodist Church, 261 Country Club Road, Fairview, Texas, 75069.
