Betty Jo Gallups, age 81, of McKinney, Texas, passed away July 9, 2008, in Rowlett, Texas. Betty was born July 15, 1926, in Chambersville, Texas, to William Nicholas “Bill” and Celia Wilma Jane (Watson) Flanery. She married Claud Gallups on February 15, 1947, in McKinney, Texas. Betty was a seamstress for many years at Haggar Slacks in McKinney, Texas. She was an active member of Waddill Street Baptist Church and the Senior Citizen Center in McKinney. She is survived by her children, Jody Davis and husband, Harold of Bedford, Texas, Kathy Newport of Tyler, Texas, Cindy Moore and husband, Steve of Anna, Texas, and Tracy Gallups of McKinney, Texas; Mike Gallups and wife, Judy of Copeville, Texas; seventeen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Flanery and wife, Wanda of Princeton, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Wilma Flanery, husband, Claud Gallups in 1997, daughter, Charlotte Davis in 1973, sons, Gary Gallups in 1959 and Ronnie Gallups in 2001, and son-in-law, Billy Newport in 2008. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM. Friday, July 11, 2008, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Brother Woody Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Chambersville Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
