Betty Joe Myrick Blackwell died in Allen, Texas on May 15, 2015 after a long and difficult illness. She was born on August 3, 1928 in Allen Texas to Ernest Myrick and Gladys Fondren Myrick (later known as Gladys Sexton). Betty was preceded in death by her brothers John Henry Myrick and Thomas Myrick. She was married to the late John D. Blackwell and was a long-time resident of McKinney, where she and her husband were owners of the Blackwell Appliance Service, a name which will be familiar to many residents of McKinney.
She was the mother of Paul R. Blackwell of Springfield, Missouri and Donna Kay Blackwell Haynes of Plano. Betty is also survived by five grand-children and three great-grandchildren. In her younger days she was a very talented self-taught artist.
Memorial service on June 6, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of the Custer Road United Methodist Church, 6601 Custer Road, Plano, Texas 75023, to be followed by private inurnment at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow in McKinney.
