Bettie C. Yarber

Bettie Crockett Yarber went to be with the Lord on August 25, 2016.  Bettie was born on January 12, 1936 to George Thomas Crockett and Travis Hand Crockett in McClennan County, Texas.  She was a 1954 graduate of La Vega High School, and graduated from Baylor University in 1958, with a B.S. in Nursing.  Bettie’s Nursing career began in Dallas at Baylor Hospital.  In 1959, she moved to Chicago to work for Liberty Mutual Life Insurance Co. as a Rehabilitation Nurse.  Bettie returned to Texas in 1950 and married LTJG William J. Yarber in January, 1961.  They relocated to Rhode Island where Bill was stationed with the Navy, and Bettie became a Medical/Surgical Instructor at the University of Rhode Island.  Following Bill’s release from active duty in 1962, they moved to Moscow, Idaho where Bettie was a Public Health Nurse for Latah County while Bill pursued his degree at the University of Idaho.

In 1966, after the birth of her youngest daughter, Bettie became a full time homemaker.  Bill and Bettie moved multiple times in their years together due to Bill’s employment with Bell Helicopter.  Following their time in Idaho, they lived in Bedford, TX; Vancouver, WA; Westlake Village, CA; and finally to Plano, TX.  She was an involved Mom, Grandmother, volunteer and nurse advocate for anyone in need.  Bettie was an active member of Community Bible Study in both California and Texas.  Bettie will be missed for her spirit of fun and adventure, her giving and loving heart and her desire to do for others. 

Bettie is preceded in death by her parents and brother, George Thomas Crockett, Jr.  She is survived by her husband of 55 years, William J. Yarber, daughters: Shannon Lloyd (John) of Plano, TX and Kirsten Bond (Craig) of Liberty Hill, TX.  Grandchildren: Jacob Lloyd, Lauren Lloyd, Allyson Bond and Logan Bond.  She is also survived by her sister Marcelaine Fletcher of Gainesville, GA.  She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, TX on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 10:00 AM.  Interment will be held at DFW National Cemetery at a later date.
