IN LOVING MEMORY

Betsy Bartlett Bush Sandison

Aug 25 1947 - Aug 01 2016

Betsy Bartlett Bush Sandison, age 68, of Frisco, Texas, formerly of Dallas, passed away August 1, 2016. She was born on August 25, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, to Sterling Price and Nancy Ross (Bartlett) “Tootie” Bush. She was a graduate of the Hockaday School and SMU, where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1969. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and also the Dallas Junior League.

During the 1970’s Betsy worked briefly for Preston State Bank, and then turned her attention to residential real estate. She was an agent for Henry S. Miller Realtors and then became an agent for Helana Underwood Realtors. On August 15, 1981, Betsy married Colin Sandison in Dallas, Texas. Following the birth of her son, Sean, in September of 1982, she left the realty business to become a full time, stay at home mother.

Betsy possessed an uncommon talent for baking. During the holiday season at each yearend, she would spend long hours baking her signature pastry, sand tarts, peanut butter and chocolate balls, and other goodies to be given to her many friends and relatives. She continued this for many years until her worsening medical condition would no longer permit her to stand for the long hours required. Betsy also drew enormous pleasure from playing all types of table games. Cards, dominos, bingo, it mattered not which game she played. She was truly in her element when doing that.

She is survived by her husband, Colin Sandison, of Frisco, Texas; son, Sean Bartlett Sandison and wife Anna of Salisbury, North Carolina; brothers Rick Bush and wife Mary of Dallas, Texas, Charlie Bush and wife Donna of Frisco, Texas, George Bush and wife Sharla of McKinney, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

Betsy is preceded in death by her parents, Sterling “S.P.” and Tootie Bush: as well as her youngest brother Bryan Bush.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 12, 2016, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. A private interment will be at Sparkman Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.  Betsy’s favorite charity was VNA Texas (the Visiting Nurses Association) Meals on Wheels program (vnatexas.org). She served as a volunteer for that program for a number of years.
