Mrs. Betrice Christine Powell, age 92, of Clayton, Oklahoma (formerly of McKinney, Texas) passed away May 18, 2005, in McAlester, Oklahoma. She was born February 4, 1913, in Sugarland, Texas, to Daniel Benjamin and Inez Louise Brown (VanHorn) Morgan. She married Charlie Calvin Powell on September 2, 1950, in McKinney, Texas. Mrs. Powell was a homemaker and a member of the Life House Cathedral. She is survived by her son, Charlie Wayne Powell and wife, Sandra of Ringo, Oklahoma; daughter, Barbara Sue Monroe and husband, Billy Don of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughters, Janie Ben and husband, Ronnie of Clayton, Oklahoma, Tammie Janene Griffin and husband, Don of Irving, Texas, and Linnie Christine Mashman and husband, Steve of Port O’Conner, Texas; sister, Leva M. Pevehouse of Carrollton, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Tommy Powell; daughter, Edith Christine Scott; and brothers, David C. Morgan and Joe B. Morgan. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, May 22, 2005, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. W. E. Starnes officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Saturday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
