Mrs. Bernice Wellpott Monroe, age 90, of McKinney, Texas passed away Thursday, April 12, 2007 in Plano, Texas. She was born March 7, 1917 in Irvington, IL to Henry and Louise (Meyer) Wellpott. On June 22, 1941, Bernice married James N. Monroe in Hoyleton, IL. Mrs. Monroe retired as a school secretary from Fannie Finch Elementary. She was a member of The First Christian Church of McKinney for more than 60 years and also a member of the Entre Nous Club. She is survived by her son, James Monroe, Jr. and his wife Judy of Plano, Texas; daughters, Sue Ford of McKinney, Texas and Ann Adair Monroe of Denton, Texas; grandchildren, Matt Monroe of Wylie, Texas and, Clint Monroe and his wife Christine of Parker, Texas; great grandchildren, Mason Monroe of Wylie, Texas and, Caleigh Monroe of Parker, Texas; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, James Monroe; brother, Martin Wellpott; sisters, Clara Struckmeyer, Alice Wellpott, Louise Wellpott, Minnie Wellpott, Freida Beckmeyer, Ida Grote and, Sophie Hake. Funeral Service will be held 4:00 PM, Sunday, April 15, 2007 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, Allen, Texas with Dr. Neill Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Saturday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation Saturday evening from 4 – 6 PM. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of McKinney, 1800 W. Hunt Street, McKinney, TX 75069.
