Bennie Largent Sanders

Bennie Largent Sanders of Allen, Texas, was called home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Easter Sunday morning April 20, 2014.  Bennie was born at home in McKinney on May 2, 1921, to Essie Lee McWilliams and Lee Roy Sanders, and was one of six siblings.  He attended schools in McKinney and graduated from McKinney High School in 1939.  On August 19, 1939, he married Martha Ruth Gunter of Celina.  She preceded him in death in 1993.  He married Tressie Pardue, in 2000.  In 1952 he was baptized and became a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in McKinney, where he was an ordained elder. 

From 1944-46, Bennie served in the United States Army during the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign and the Occupation of Japan.  He retired with the United States Postal Service in 1979.  He was a devoted caregiver, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He was well known as a serious fisherman and golfer.

Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 54 years Martha, wife of 10 years Tressie, brothers Ray of Cedar Creek Lake, Jimmy of Red Oak, sisters Clara Painter of Dallas, Lyla Cashon of Denton, and Nell Young of Hondo.

He is survived by daughters Linda Hackney and husband Fred of McKinney, Gayla Little of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, 4 grand-daughters Robin Frailicks and husband Steve Hanes of Ft. Worth, Connie Holmes of Dallas, Trisha Mack of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, and Julie Hackney of McKinney; 7 great-grand-children Jamie Frailicks of San Marcos, Ben Holmes of Mesquite, Shelby Pell of McKinney, MacKenzie and Melissa Mack of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas,  Brandon and Bailey O’Bier of Westminster; brother-in-law Harrison Gunter of Alice, Texas; aunt Kenneth Joy Shelton of Denton, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private interment will be held at Ridgeview Memorial Park for family. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Trinity Presbyterian Church in McKinney, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, Building Fund, 5871 Virginia Parkway, McKinney, TX 75071 (972-542-4629), or the charity of your choice.
