Audrey Lorene Halcomb, 100, a former longtime resident of Sand Springs, went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2012, in McKinney, Texas. She was born August 22, 1911, to Grover and Olice Conway in Jefferson, Oklahoma. After graduating from Oklahoma College for Women and teaching in a one room school house in Pond Creek, Oklahoma, she married Charles M. Halcomb on June 13, 1935 and moved to Sand Springs, where they lived until Charles’ death in 2005. Audrey was a loving wife and mother and active in her church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Marie Conway, her brother, Max Mowbray and her husband, Charles.
Audrey is survived by her children, Charles G. and Nancy Halcomb of Lubbock, Texas, Jerry and Betty Halcomb of Dallas, Texas, and Stephen and Elaine Wintory of McKinney, Texas, six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Broadway Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. with a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Pond Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Broadway Baptist Church Lottie Moon Mission fund, 1000 N. Adams Road, Sand Springs.
