Artis Marie Cummings, of Farmersville, Texas, passed away on March 17, 2016 at her home in Farmersville, surrounded by family. She was born February 24, 1915 in Blue Ridge, Tx to Joe Daniel Kent and Harriet Caroline Wilson Kent. She was the youngest of 10 children. She attended Arnold School, east of Blue Ridge. Artis married Aubrie (Johnny) Cummings on 10-14-1940 in McKinney, TX.
They had 5 children: Jimmie Kent Cummings (deceased in 2011) of Farmersville; Pat Cummings Rutledge and husband Calvin of Keller Tx; Sharon Cummings of Farmersville TX, Gayle Cummings Coomer of Merit TX; and Mike Cummings and wife Debbie of Pine, AZ; 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, the love of her life, Aubrie, died in 1981. She and Aubrie built their home in Farmersville in 1980. (Literally built it) She worked over 35 years as a seamstress at Johnston's Inc. in Wylie. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, wife, Mother, and Granny. She was her happiest when the family was all gathered together. She was much loved and will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be on Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hurst’s Fielder Baker Funeral Home, 107 N. Washington Street, Farmersville, Texas. Funeral service will be on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Farmersville, Texas. Rev./Dr. Eddie Carder will officiate. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Cemetery in Blue Ridge, Texas.
